EU states resume rollout of Astrazeneca, with 3rd wave lockdown in Paris

Some European countries that suspended the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine have resumed their rollout.

These include Germany, France, Italy and Spain, while other countries are free to determine when to re-start their vaccination.

This comes after the European Medicines Agency reviewed concerns over blood clots in thirteen EU states where the vaccine had been in use.

The EU’s medicines regulator concluded that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was safe and effective.

Meanwhile; the French capital, Paris, is going into another lockdown, beginning from midnight today, due to fears of a third wave of Covid-19.

The lockdown, which is expected to last about a month, will also affect fifteen departments in the country.

Prime Minister Jean Castex said the measures would not be as strict as the previous lockdown, as people would be allowed to exercise outdoors.
