Governor Obaseki begins second term in Edo State

Governor GODWIN OBASEKI of Edo State and his Deputy, PHILLIP SHUAIBU, have been sworn in for a second term in office.

Governor OBASEKI and Deputy Governor SHUAIBU, took their oaths of office and allegiance during a ceremony at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in the state capital, Benin City, Thursday, November 12, 2020.

The first to take the oaths was the Deputy Governor, followed by Governor OBASEKI, with the State Chief Judge, Justice ESTHER EDIGIN, presiding over the ceremony.

In his speech; Governor GODWIN OBASEKI declared that his second time election presents a new opportunity to build Edo State.

Governor OBASEKI also said that the task of rebuilding Edo State requires the unity of Edo people for the benefit of all.

Governor OBASEKI promised to give the people for their money, just as he appealed to them to pay taxes.

He described his second term election as a reference point in efforts to restore democracy in not just Nigeria, but around the world.

Governor OBASEKI’s second term inauguration ceremony was attended by the PDP Governors of Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Sokoto states.

Recall that Governor GODWIN OBASEKI and his Deputy, PHILLIP SHUAIBU, won their second term election on Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Governor OBASEKI contested the election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, following his defection from the All Progressives Congress, which denied him a second term ticket.
