High Commission attacks: Ghana’s President apologises to Nigeria

The President of Ghana, NANA AKUFO-ADDO, has apologized to the Nigerian government for the demolition of the Nigerian High Commission building in Accra.

The Ghanaian President also told President MUHAMMADU BUHARI in a phone conversation that he has ordered a full scale investigation into the incident.

GARBA SHEHU; Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President BUHARI, confirmed the interaction between the two leaders in a statement.

SHEHU also noted that some suspects had been arrested over the incident, and would be arraigned in court.

The phone conversation between President BUHARI and his Ghanaian counterpart comes after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, FEMI GBAJABIAMILA, asked President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to invoke the Doctrine of Reciprocity in response to the destruction of High Commission building Accra.

FEMI GBAJABIAMILA, who made the call during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, GEOFFREY ONYEMA, said the demolition of the High Commission building was in violation of Nigeria’s sovereignty.

On his part; GEOFFREY ONYEMA revealed that the attacks on the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana were done by none state actors.
