House of Representatives calls for suspension of companies behind importation bad petrol

The House of Representatives has called for suspension of the operations of four companies that are behind the importation of one hundred million litres of bad petrol into Nigeria.

The House took the decision based on a motion of urgent national importance, after the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited revealed the names of the companies.

The Green Chamber of the National Assembly also mandated its Committee on Petroleum Downstream to investigate how the bad petrol was distributed to petrol stations across the country.

They also expressed concern over the effect of the adulterated petrol on vehicles, as well as the increased cost of transportation, goods, and services.
