The House Representatives has summoned the Minister of Culture and Information, Lai Mohammed, over the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.
Lai Mohammed is to appear before the House Joint Committee on Justice, Commerce, and Information.
The Joint Committee was directed to investigate the process leading to the suspension of Twitter and determine whether it was done according to the law.
The House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, approved the invitation of the Minister while giving directive to members of the Joint Committee.
Speaker Gbajabiamila said the House recognizes that Twitter is a very important means of communication.
Gbabiamila noted that Twitter has been used for both good and bad, adding the legislature must make sure that the policies of government do not have negative affect on the people.
