INEC projects up to 90 million voters for 2023 general elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has called for the support of the United Nations for the 2023 general election.

INEC says up to ninety million registered voters are expected for the coming elections, which is six million voters higher than the eighty-four million voters for the 2019 election.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu also said with eighteen political parties, there could be up to fifteen thousand candidates for the coming general elections.

Professor Yakubu also said it would require about one million election officials to conduct the elections in over one hundred and seventy-six thousand polling units across the country.

The INEC Chairman made this known during a meeting in Abuja with members of the United Nations Needs Assessment Mission, led by Serge Gakwandi Kubwimana.
