IPMAN welcomes petrol subsidy removal extension

The Independent Petrol Marketers Association of Nigeria has welcomed the extension of petrol subsidy removal by eighteen months.

IPMAN’s National Operations Controller, Mike Osatuyi, said the association is also in support of the plan by the Federal Government to put in place measures to absorb the effect of the removal of petrol subsidy when it begins.

Osatuyi who shared his views during an interview on television, said the five-thousand-naira handout to the poorest Nigerians, initially proposed by the government, was not enough.

He also said it was not true that IPMAN members were hoarding petrol to create artificial scarcity, but blamed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for the problem.
