Itakpe-Warri rail line to connect Abuja by 2023

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has approved the extension of the Itakpe-Warri railway to Abuja.

President BUHARI wants the project to connect the northern and southern parts of Nigeria before the end of his tenure in May 2023.

The President made this known during the official opening of the new rail line, from Warri in Delta State to Ajaokuta in Kogi State.

President BUHARI was not physically on the ground for the ceremony but unveiled the project through video link from the Conference Hall of the State House in Abuja.

The Itakpe-Warri railway line covers two hundred and seventy-six kilometres, while the extension to Abuja would increase the distance to three hundred and twenty-six kilometres.
