Labour begins mobilisation for strike, protest in Lagos

The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have briefed their members about the impending industrial actions.

The State Chairman of NLC, AGNESS FUNMI SESSI, said the emergency congress and mobilization meeting ON Thursday, September 24, 2020, was also attended by representatives of civil society organisations.

SESSI said the total strike action and protest rallies beginning from Monday would also be used to send a message to government to fix Nigeria’s four petrol refineries to boost local production.

She said the unions consider the government approval of a rail track to Niger Republic as economic sabotage and misplacement of priority.

The Labour leader also said court injunctions obtained by a strange group cannot stop the right of Nigerian workers to gather for a peaceful protest.
