Lagos bleeds, as arsonist attack Govt, private property

• Kings College evacuated
• Hoodlums take over Ajah
• Curfew weighs down on residents

Several public and private buildings have been set on fire or vandalized by hoodlums in the city of Lagos. The incidents happened Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

The headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority on Lagos Island was affected, as well as two BRT terminals at Oyingbo and Ojodu-Berger, with several buses destroyed.

Hoodlums also set fire to the headquarters of Television Continental – TVC, at Magodo, as well as several vehicles parked within the compounds.

Some presenters who were on-air when the attack happened earlier today, confirmed the situation in a video message they shared online.

Thugs also attacked the Lagos State Television – LTV – destroyed property and set several vehicles on fire.

Elsewhere, another group of young men also said to have attacked and looted the Palace of the Oba of Lagos on the Lagos Island, just as another group set fire to a government cinema house at Oregun.

However; some residents of Oregun said those who attacked the cinema house were from outside, even though they endorsed the EndSARS protests.

Another building that is said to be the home of the mother of Lagos State Governor was also set on fire in the Surulere axis of the city.

In another development; students of the King’s College in Lagos have been moved away from the school premises.

This followed attacks on some public buildings near the school, including the Lagos City Hall, as well as the High Court and Court of Appeal complexes near Obalende.

Similarly, residents of Ajah, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, are trapped indoors as criminal gangs take over the area.

Some concerned residents said rival street gangs have been making life difficult for them, and they are no security operatives to help them.

A leading security consultant, ONA EKHOMU, has also called for help for residents of Ajah, as he said the criminal breaking into shops and banks in that area.

Meanwhile; some residents of Lagos State have called on the State Government to review the indefinite curfew.

Those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s News Desk complained that the curfew was announced in a hurry and they did not have enough time to prepare.

A resident of Ikorodu who gave his name as ADEBISI AHMED said if he continues to remain at home, his livestock would be in danger.

Around Mushin and Aguda areas of Lagos; some residents said imposing curfew without providing security does not help the situation.
