Lagos East Bye-Election: Gbadamosi urges INEC to resist external pressures

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has been called upon to ensure that the success of the Edo State governorship election is repeated in the Lagos East Senatorial bye-election.

Opposition politician and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI, wants the President to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission is allowed a free hand to conduct the election.

GBADAMOSI suggested that if there were no violence and intimidation of voters, and INEC was able to resist pressures, his party could repeat its success in the Edo State in the Lagos-East Senatorial contest.

GBADAMOSI also said if he makes it to the Senate, he would be asking the support of other Senators in making a special case for Lagos State as a home for all Nigerians.

He made the observations during a media chat with senior editors from both the electronic and print media houses in Lagos State.

BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI also observed that some of the bills being pushed through the National Assembly by the Executive are not in favour of Lagos State, and need to be stopped.

These include the controversial CAMA Act that has already been signed into law, and the equally disputed National Water Resources Bill, that could not be passed by the Senate of the Eighth National Assembly.
