Lagos flood warning: Residents put on alert

The Lagos State Government has advised residents on the banks of the Ogun River to be on alert, ahead of the release of more water from Oyan Dam.

The affected areas include Agboyi-Ketu, Owode Onirin, Isheri, Ajegunle, Agiliti, Kara, Majidun, and all areas close to rivers and the sea in Lagos State.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, TUNJI BELLO, said twenty-three million cubic meters of water will be released from the Dam this month, which marks the highpoint of the rainy season.

BELLO said that would be followed with the release of another eleven million cubic meters of water from the same Dam in the month of November.

He also assured that the Lagos State Government was taking steps to reduce the impact of the heavy rainfall on the lives and property of citizens.
