Lagos gets Panel on Police brutality; as thugs attack Alausa Protesters

Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU, has set a panel to investigate all cases of human rights violations by the police.

The panel, which is headed by a retired Judge, including leading human rights lawyer, EBUN-OLU ADEGBORUWA.

The Governor made the announcement during a media briefing at the State House in Marina on the Lagos Island.

He said the young protesters also have a chance to nominate a representative in the panel.

Meanwhile; the Lagos State Government has denied involvement in the attack on protesters by armed thugs at Alausa.

The State Government also said those behind the accusation that it sponsored the thugs are enemies of peace and orderliness.

In a statement on its official Twitter handle, the State Government said the allegation is wicked and meant to damage its image.

It noted that Governor BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU and his Deputy have been preaching peace since the protests began and have identified with the youths on the need for police reforms.
