Lagos motorists face total closure of 3rd Mainland Bridge

The Lagos Third Mainland Bridge would be completely closed to traffic for two days, beginning from midnight tomorrow, as the repair work continues.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, JOSHUA POPOOLA, announced in a statement that the total closure of the bridge would be lifted by midnight on Sunday.

POPOOLA said that the ongoing repair of the closed section of the bridge has gone far and would be completed soon.

He said the total closure of both sections of the bridge is to ensure that there is no vibration during the casting in-place of the newly installed expansion joints.

The official said the casting of the expansion joints would be in two stages to ensure that the total closure is only at the weekends when there is less traffic on the bridge.
