Lagos State Health Commissioner tests positive for Covid-19

The Lagos State Commissioner for health, Professor AKIN ABAYOMI, has tested positive for Covid-19.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, GBENGA OMOTOSHO, said Professor ABAYOMI took the test after coming in contact with persons who felt unwell and tested positive for Covid-19.

In a message on Twitter; OMOTOSHO said Professor has gone into fourteen days of self-isolation and treatment at home.

However; the Information Commissioner said the Commissioner for Health would continue to discharge his duties.

Further confirming the development in his personal Twitter handle, Professor ABABYOMI said it was with utmost sense of responsibility that he wanted to let the general public know that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

Professor ABAYOMI doubles as Deputy Incident Commander of the Lagos State Government Covid-19 response operation.

Meanwhile; Lagos State reported one hundred and thirty new cases of Covid-19 that were confirmed yesterday.

The new cases in Lagos are among three hundred and twenty-two positive tests reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control across the country yesterday.
