Lai Mohammed continues to defend twitter suspension

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has continued to defend the suspension of Twitter, as some groups and individuals prepare for a showdown with the Federal Government in various courts.

Lai Mohammed, while responding to questions on a Radio Nigeria programme, said it was unfair to say that Twitter was suspended because it deleted a President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet

Mohammed maintained that microblogging platform was suspended because it was being used to promote the views of those who want to destabilise the country.

He also revealed that Twitter rejected the demand by the government to block the twitter account of Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

According to a reproduction of his responses in an online report; Lai Mohammed said the government has no apology to offer to those who are unhappy with the suspension of Twitter operations in the country.
