Mailafia resigns from NIPSS over security faceoff

Former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, OBADIAH MAILAFIA, has resigned his appointment with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

MAILAFIA’s resignation from the national policy think-tank comes after his brush with the security agencies, including the Department of State Service and the Nigeria Police Force.

He was invited two times for interrogation by the DSS at its office in Jos, Plateau State, followed by another invitation to appear before the Police Headquarters in Abuja.

His offence is a recent interview he granted to a radio station, during which he alleged that a northern governor was a commander of the terrorist group that have been fighting the Nigerian military in the north.

Before his resignation, MAILAFIA’s lawyers had gone to the Plateau State High Court to seek protection from further harassment and arrest by the security agencies.
