Mobile Court orders forfeiture of 31 Vehicles to Lagos State Govt.

Thirty-one vehicles have been forfeited to the Lagos State government for driving against traffic.

The forfeiture order was granted by the Lagos State Mobile Court after the drivers of the vehicles pleaded guilty for the offence.

The Head of Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Task Force, ADEBAYO TAOFIQ, said the forfeiture order was made based on the ‘Lagos State Transport Sector Reformed Law of 2018.

TAOFIQ said forty-three other drivers who were accused of driving on the BRT lane and causing obstructions were ordered to pay fines.

The statement quoted the Chairman of the Lagos State Environment and Special Offences Task Force, OLAYINKA EGBEYEMI, confirming that a total of one hundred and sixty traffic offenders were meant to appear in court.

EGBEYEMI said only seventy-four appeared before the court, while the remaining eighty-six offenders have been advised to take their turn immediately.
