National Primary Healthcare Development Agency confirms 395 new cases of circulating mutant poliovirus type two

The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency has confirmed three hundred and ninety-five new cases of Circulating Mutant Poliovirus Type Two across twenty-seven states and the Federal Capital Territory.

NPHCDA Executive Director, Doctor Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this in a statement, saying the outbreak was a result of the immunity gaps in children.

He attributed this to low immunisation coverage and the suspension of several polio campaigns to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
