The National Broadcasting Commission has in the meantime directed all broadcast stations in the country to suspend the use of Twitter with immediate effect.
The NBC said the decision followed the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government.
The Commission gave the directive in a statement by its acting Director-General, Professor Armstrong Idachaba.
Idachaba directed broadcast stations to uninstall Twitter handles and desist from using Twitter as a source of information gathering for news and programmes presentation especially phone-in.
