The World Health Organization has announced that Nigeria and five other African countries will be given the M.R.N.A technology to set up their own vaccine production centres.
The Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Ghebreyesus, disclosed in a statement that Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia will get the technology used in the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna jabs developed in Europe.
Ghebreyesus said the countries were selected as the first recipients of the technology in a bid to ensure that the African continent can make its own vaccine to fight COVID-19 and other diseases.
