Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, gets 2 million Naira Bail

Nollywood actor, Omiyinka Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, has been granted bail after pleading not guilty to six counts of rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor.

Baba Ijesha entered the plea after he was dragged before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja.

After taking his plea, the state counsel, Olayinka Adeyemi, asked the court to remand BABA IJESHA in the correctional facility pending his trial.

But, Baba Ijesha’s defence team of nineteen lawyers informed the court that they had filed a bail application for their client, which had been served on the prosecuting team.

The defence team led by Babatunde Ogala, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, urged the court to allow them to argue the bail application, which was granted by Justice Taiwo.

In his argument; Ogala urged the court to grant BABA IJESHA bail on health grounds and considering his popularity and the credibility of his sureties.

Justice Taiwo agreed with the defence, and granted Baba Ijesha bail in the sum of two million naira and two sureties, within seven days.

One of the two sureties must be a lawyer, plus a blood relative who lives in Lagos.

Meanwhile; the Vice President of the Association of Movie Producers, Blessing Ebigieson, has said the bail for Baba Ijesha is okay, but not the end of the case.
