Obasanjo condemns destruction of his Benue fruit farm

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has condemned the destruction of his fruit farm in Benue State.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo vowed that those behind the attack would be identified and punished.

The mango plantation belonging to the former president was allegedly destroyed by hoodlums.

The arsonists reportedly burnt down the farm following disagreements with the locals over compensation for the piece of land that originally belonged to the state government.

The Chairman of Gwer East Local Government Area, Emmanuel Ortserga, who confirmed the incident, described it as deliberate sabotage, disclosing that four people had been arrested in connection with the crime.
