Oyo State Government reopens Shasha market in Ibadan

The Oyo State Government has ordered the reopening of Shasha market in Ibadan, over a week after deadly clashes in the area.

Governor Seyi Makinde made the order after listening to complaints by community leaders on both sides during a meeting.

He also said the state government would clear the burnt structures in the market, and mount street lights in the area.

However; Governor Makinde directed that the Iroko market where the crisis began should remain closed.

Furthermore, the Oyo State Government is providing palliative support for traders whose goods were destroyed in the violence.

Governor Seyi Makinde appealed to both the Hausa and Yoruba communities to live together in peace.
