PDP kicks, as FG approves $1.96B Rail Line to Niger Republic

The Federal Executive Council has approved a contract of nearly two billion dollars for a rail line that runs into Niger Republic.

The Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI AMAECHI, said the one point nine-five-nine billion dollars’ rail track would run through the Nigerians cities of Kano, Dutse, Katsina, Jibia and Maradi in Niger Republic.

AMAECHI told State House correspondents after the FEC meeting yesterday that the two hundred and forty-eight kilometre would help to boost transportation of crude oil in the northern parts of Nigeria.

However; the approval of the project is not going down well with the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP described the project as a misplacement of priority, as the country was currently facing serious problems of insecurity and economic difficulties from the policies of government.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, KOLA OLOGBINDIYAN, told newsmen in Abuja that the problem with the Buhari Administration is the failure to set its priorities right.
