Police begins trial of Fmr Imo State Governor

Former Governor of Imo State, IKEDI OHAKIM, has appeared before an Abuja High Court on charges of false information.

The Inspector General of Police, MOHAMMED ADAMU, accused OHAKIM of giving false information against one CHINYERE AMUCHIENWA.

OHAKIM is alleged to have lied that CHINYERE AMUCHIENWA threatened him with a gun and also made a false claim that he had a plot of land for sale in Lagos State.

The former governor is also accused of unlawfully used the name of RAJI FASHOLA as the owner of the purported land situated at Ikeja.

However, OHAKIM’s lawyer, KEN NJEMANZE, told the court that his client was not guilty of the charges.

In his ruling, Justice SAMIRA BATURE granted OHAKIM bail in the sum of ten million naira with one surety in like sum.

Justice BATURE also ordered that the surety must be a reputable person with a verifiable address within Abuja, and adjourned the case to January 25, 2021.
