Police Inspector appears at Lagos SARS Panel

A police officer identified as Inspector John Iretibe has appeared before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality and Restitution in an attempt to clear his name over an allegation of murder.

Inspector Iretibe, who is also known as Tallest, is accused of killing one Mustapha Murruf at the Ajangbadi area of Lagos State during the ENDSARS protest in October last year.

At the time of the incident, Inspector Iretibe was attached to the Anti-Robbery Unit of the Ajangbadi Police Division, and he is alleged to have shot the victim three times, before taking the body away.

Still at the Lagos State Judicial Panel, one Stella Edegwo has recounted she and her friend, Adeola Mukaila, were allegedly assaulted by operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Stella Edegwo told the Panel that SARS operatives attached to Tolu Police Division attacked she and Mukaila on June 6, 2020, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos.
