The Presidency has disagreed with the claim by a former US Ambassador John Campbell that Nigeria is failing.
Ambassador Campbell reportedly shared his views about the current situation in Nigeria in a highly rated Foreign Affairs magazine.
However; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said Ambassador Campbell’s opinion that the “Giant of Africa is Failing” is unfair both to a magazine and to its readers.
Garba Shehu also noted that Ambassador Campbell has been predicting the collapse of Nigeria for several years, adding that he was entitled to his opinion.
Shehu said when President Muhammadu Buhari had a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in April and requested for the US Africa Command to be moved to Africa, he did not ask for the new location to be in Nigeria.
