President Muhammadu Buhari has received the highest award of the Niger Republic.
President Buhari will now be addressed as ‘Grand Croix Des Ordre National Du Niger’, which means ‘Grand Cross of the National Order of Niger’.
The new title is in addition to President Buhari’s other titles, including Nigeria’s highest award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, GCFR.
President Buhari was decorated with the Nigerien award by the outgoing President of the country, Mahamadou Issoufou.
President Issoufou said the award is because of President Buhari’s fraternity, vigour, patriotism and determination to move Africa forward.
In his response; President Buhari praised the outgoing Nigerien leader for upholding the tenets of democracy, improving the economy of his country and consolidating the good relations between Niger and Nigeria.
