President Buhari Launches 62.1 Billion Naira HIV Trust Fund

The Federal Government has launched a sixty-two-point-one-billion-naira Trust Fund to sustain efforts that are geared towards handling of HIV-AIDS related cases in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari performed the launch of the private sector-led during a ceremony at the State House in Abuja.

Meanwhile; the Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, Winnie Byanyima, has said that a total of one point seven million Nigerians are living with HIV.

Branyima also said that one point six million of the people living with HIV in Nigeria are on treatment, with children accounting for the highest number of infections.

Also speaking at the event in Abuja, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard, assured that Nigeria would not be abandoned.
