Promote peace, love, tolerance; cleric charges Muslims on Ramadan

Muslims have been called upon to use the Ramadan season, which began yesterday, to promote peace, love and tolerance of other religions.

The Chief Imam of Dahlat Central Mosque at Ilasa, Lagos, Abdulfatai Sulaiman, made the call in an interview with Lasgidi FM’s Azuka Onwuzor

The Muslim cleric reminded fellow faithful that Islam is a religion of peace and submission, which does not preach or encourage violence.

Abdulfatai Sulaiman also described Ramadan as a special event in the Islamic calendar, and urged Muslims to use the occasion to draw closer to Allah and obey his commandments.

Meanwhile; some Muslims in Lagos State have also been speaking on their understanding of Ramadan and what is expected of them during the period.

Those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s Chukwuemeka Obioma, said they would draw closer to God and maintain a life of purity.

Others said that the Ramadan exercise is an opportunity for them to present their requests to God and expect them to be granted speedily.
