The House of Representatives has agreed to reconsider the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, with a view to removing the provision for direct primaries.
This was announced by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, as he welcomed lawmakers back from the holidays.
However, Speaker Gbajabiamila said the version of the Electoral Act Bill in circulation is not the same as the copy President Muhammadu Buhari refused to sign into law.
The Speaker, therefore, asked a Committee of the House to investigate the source of the fake copy of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Gbajabiamila also ruled out the possibility of overriding President Buhari’s veto on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
