Some residents of Akobi Crescent in Surulere have blamed the Lagos State government for the blocked drainage system in the area.
The residents who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s CHUKWUEMEKA OBIOMA complained that the state government had failed to clear the drainage system for some years.
However; there are other people who believe that the action of some residents who dump refuse into the canal was what caused the blockage and littered the area with dirt.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, TUNJI BELLO, had said dredging of the canal near the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba was responsible for the pile of dirt that was seen around Akobi Cresent in Surulere after it rained over the weekend.
