Rivers State relaxes Oyigbo curfew by daytime

The Rivers State Government has relaxed the twenty-four-hour curfew imposed on Oyigbo Local Government Area.

Eleven days after the imposition of the curfew on October 21, 2020, the state government said the restriction of movement in the area will now last from 7PM to 6AM, beginning from tomorrow.

Commissioner of Information and Communications, PAULINUS NSIRIM, announced the decision while briefing newsmen at the Government House in Port Harcourt on the outcome of the meeting of the State Security Council.

NSIRIM recalled that the curfew was imposed after suspected members of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra killed ten security operatives and burned down police stations in Oyigbo.

The Commissioner also claimed that the security agencies lost fifty AK-47 rifles during the violence in Oyigbo, adding that the security agencies would continue to search the area to recover the missing rifles.
