Rivers State to get new Isolation: as 6 NDDC Staff test positive for Covid-19

Three oil and gas multinationals operating in Rivers State have come together to donate an isolation centre for the handling of Covid-19 cases by the state government.

Governor NYESOM WIKE who announced the offer of the thirty-bed space facility to be located in Bonny Island, said he was happy about the proposed donation.

Governor WIKE said the decision to upgrade and equip the Bonny General Hospital with an Isolation and Treatment Centre was taken during a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He maintained that oil workers were the highest among those who have tested positive for Covid-19 in Rivers State.

Meanwhile; 6 officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), have tested positive for Covid-19.

The affected persons are said to be attached to the office of the NDDC Executive Director in charge of Projects, CAIRO OJOUGBOH.

Recall that the NDDC management had ordered the closure of its Head Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for disinfection after an executive officer was feared to have died from Covid-19.
