Sallah holiday continues nationwide, political & religious share messages of hope

Government offices and those of some private organisations across Nigeria will remain closed, as the public holiday for the Muslim festival of Eid-El-Kabir continues.

Yesterday, Muslims in Nigeria joined their counterparts across the world to observe the Eid prayers at various locations to usher in the Sallah celebrations.

Here in Lagos, some Muslim worshipers gathered at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground at Obalende for the Eid prayer.

The prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Alhaji Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, who also called on political leaders to fulfil their promises to the people.

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, was also present at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground, and he advised resident to observe Covid-19 guidelines.

Elsewhere; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, who spoke from his residence in Surulere, called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

Still in Lagos State, the Chief Imam of Dahlat Central Mosque in Ilasamaja, Al Khalefat Sulaiman, challenged other religious leaders to teach their members the truth.

Similarly; the leader of the Lagos State Chapter of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria suggested that Nigerians can overcome challenges in the country if they see themselves as one people.

Meanwhile, some Muslim worshippers in Lagos have been complaining of the hardship in country, which they said has made it difficult for them to celebrate the Sallah.

However, those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s Chukwuemeka Obioma thanked God for the gift of life and good health.

Elsewhere, some Muslims in the Federal Capital Territory performed the Eid prayer at the Abuja National Eid Ground.

The session was led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Muhammad Adam, who urged Muslims to spread the message of sacrifice, obedience to God, and love for humanity.

The prayer session was also attended by the Minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello, who called on residents to be law-abiding, security conscious, and united.

In Niger State; a former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar prayed for God to touch the minds of kidnappers and bandits to change their ways.
