Senate orders investigation of Baruwa Gas explosion in Lagos

The Nigerian Senate has directed its Committees on Petroleum Downstream and Gas Resources to investigate the Baruwa gas plant explosion in Lagos State.

The Senate took the decision following a point of order moved by the Senator SOLOMON ADEOLA of Lagos West Senatorial District.

The Red Chamber of the National Assembly also directed the National Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to send relief materials to victims of the gas explosions.

The Federal Lawmakers also asked the Department of Petroleum Resources, the Lagos State Town Planning Authority, the Fire Service, and the Federal Road Safety Corps to review the safety procedures of gas transportation in the country.
