South Africa sends troops to Kwazulu-Natal over flooding

The South African military is sending more than ten thousand troops to help with relief and rescue operations in KwaZulu-Natal province, following last week’s flood disaster.

This comes as the authorities confirmed that more than four hundred and forty people have died in the incident, with sixty-three others still missing.

The KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, also said that nearly four thousand homes, mostly in the coastal city of Durban, were destroyed and more than eight thousand others were damaged.
