SSANU, NASU Gear Up For Strike

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, and the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, are insisting on going on strike from Friday this week.

Leaders of both SSANU and NASU made the declaration after failing to reach an agreement with the Federal Government on their demands.

SSANU and NASU leaders, who represent non-teaching staff of universities, met with the Minister of Labour and Employment, CHRIS NGIGE, in Abuja yesterday for a last minute attempt to settle their disagreement.

Among other demands, SSANU and NASU want their members to be removed from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information, IPPIS, which is used by the Federal Government for the payment of salaries.

Additionally, SSANU and NASU want a good share of the money released by the Federal Government for the payment of Earned Allowances of teaching and non-teaching staff of federal universities.
