Supreme Court upholds election of Gov. Bello in Kogi State

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor YAHAYA BELLO of Kogi State.

The Supreme Court’s decision was based on an appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, MUSA WADA.

In a unanimous judgment delivered Monday, August 31, 2020, the Supreme Court justices disagreed with the five grounds of appeal raised by WADA and the PDP.

Among other things; WADA had claimed that the election on November 16, 2019, was marred by irregularities and rigged in favour of Governor BELLO.

Members of the panel that delivered the judgment include the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice TANKO MUHAMMAD.

Others are Justices OLABODE RHODES-VIVOUR, SYLVESTER NGWUTA, KUDIRAT KEKERE-EKUN, INYANG OKORO, AMINA AUGIE, and UWANI ABBA-AJI.
