UNILAG Senate holds special meeting to mourn former VC, Ibidapo-Obe

Former colleagues and friends at the University of Lagos, UNILAG have held a day of tributes for the late the former Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe who passed on last month.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, in his tribute described the deceased as a born scientist who made outstanding contributions to scientific knowledge in the areas of Control and Information Systems, Stochastic/Optimisation Problems and in Engineering.

Professor Oluwatoyin added that the late Vice Chancellor was also part of the pioneering efforts in the development and application of Robotics, especially in the area of Sensors and Actuators Placement.

On his part, the immediate past VC of the university, Professor Rahamon Adisa Bello, recalled that he met Ibidapo-Obe in 1975 at the University of Waterloo in Canada during their postgraduate studies and they remained close friends till he died.

The occasion was held at the university’s main auditorium in Akoka, Lagos.
