Wike ask Buhari to listen to demands of reforms

Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE, has advised President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, to listen to the demands by Nigerians in different parts of the country.

Governor WIKE also warns that Nigeria could experience more crises if President BUHARI fails to implement the demands being made by Nigerians.

WIKE made the observations as a follow-up to the seven-point demand by leaders of the South-South geopolitical zone during a meeting with Federal Government officials in Port Harcourt.

He said even though some of the demands require the amendment of the Nigerian constitution, the President also has a responsibility to approve such amendments before they can become effective.

Governor WIKE was speaking during an interview on a television programme, which we monitored in Lagos earlier today.

Governor NYESOM WIKE also said there was no question of whether federal ministers and lawmakers from the South-South were consulted before adopting the demands by leaders of the region.

Also speaking on a separate platform, former President of the Ijaw Youth Congress, UDENGS ERADIRI, said there was nothing new in the seven-point demand by the South-South.

UDENGS ERADIRI also said the meeting that was held in Port Harcourt between South-South leaders and the Federal Government may not achieve much if the issue of restructuring is not given attention.
