ANDY UBA not validly nominated for Anambra election – Court Rules

A Federal High Court in Abuja has disqualified Senator ANDY UBA as a candidate in the last governorship election in Anambra State, which he lost.

Justice INYANG EKWO ruled that Senator UBA was not qualified to have contested the election on November 6, 2021, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

Justice EKWO held that Senator UBA was a product of an illegal primary election by the All Progressives Congress.

The Judge made the decision based on a case filed by GEORGE MOGHALU, adding that the complainant was able to prove to the court that the primary that produced Senator UBA was not valid.

The court went ahead to order the Independent National Electoral Commission to delete the name of Senator UBA from its record of candidates for the election in Anambra.

Justice EKWO also ordered the APC to refund the sum of twenty-two point five million naira to MOGHALU, which is the money he paid to purchase the party’s nomination forms.
