Bandits strike again; kill, kidnap several in Niger, Sokoto communities

Armed bandits have again attacked in Niger State, and kidnapped over fifty travelers along the Tegina-Minna Road.

The latest attack comes less than three weeks after bandits abducted forty passengers on the same road in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Also, bandits attacked Gidigori town in Rafi Local Government Area and kidnapped unconfirmed number of people.

A report quoted eyewitnesses said the bandits also set some vehicles on fire and stole valuables from the inhabitants.

Elsewhere; armed bandits have attacked at least three border communities in Sokoto State, killing and kidnapping undisclosed number of inhabitants.

Reports say the affected communities are Gwadabawa, Amarawa and Gatawa towns, which are in Illela and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.

The spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the attacks in a statement.

He confirmed that those abducted by the bandits include the Chairman of the PDP in Gwadabawa Local Government Area, Nasiru Isah.
