Buhari to present 2021 budget Thursday; Senate holds special session for late Sen. Oko

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has informed the National Assembly about his intention to present the 2021 Budget.

President BUHARI is expected to make the budget presentation before a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives on Thursday this week.

The President’s request was contained in a letter he addressed to the Senate President, AHMED LAWAN, which was read on the floor of the Senate chamber at plenary.

Meanwhile; the Nigerian Senate has held a valedictory session in honour of late Senator ROSE OKOJI OKO from Cross River State, who died in the United Kingdom at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Senate Leader, Senator YAHAYA ABDULLAHI, set the mood for the session following a motion for family members and friends of Late Senator OKO to be admitted into the chambers.

Former Senate President, ANYIM PIUS ANYIM; former governor of Cross River State, LIYEL IMOKE; and former governor of Anambra State, PETER OBI, were among dignitaries who witnessed the session.

Before she was elected to the Senate, late Senator OKO was in the House of Representatives as a PDP lawmaker for Yala-Ogoja Federal Constituency in the 7th National Assembly.

Senator OKO was born on September 27, 1956, and died on March 23, 2020, at the age of sixty-four.
