The Confederation of African Football has dismissed rumours that next month’s Africa Cup of Nations could be moved from Cameroon following the recent discovery of the new Omicron variant of Covid-19.
Some reports have suggested the dates of the tournament could change or even the location be moved, possibly to Qatar.
CAF’s director of communications, Alex Siewe, who dismissed the report at a news conference in Egypt, said the football body and the Cameroonian football association did not discuss changing of dates or countries during their last meeting.
