68-years-old President Idriss Deby of Chad has won his sixth term of office, which extends his tenure beyond thirty years.
The former military officer, who first came into power in 1990, secured another term with seventy-nine percent of the ballots cast in the presidential election on April 11.
President Deby defeated a former prime minister Albert Pahimi Padacke, and Chad’s first female presidential candidate, Lydie Beassemda, who finished second and third.
