Children Trafficking: Police rescue 8 children, arrest 10 suspects in Oraifite

• Investigate mother, child murder in Ozubulu

Police have rescued eight children, including five newborns, from a gang of child traffickers that operates from Oraifite, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP HARUNA MOHAMMED, said pregnant women were among ten suspects who were arrested by the police during the operation.

CSP MOHAMMED gave the names of the suspects as EDNA NNADI, UJUNWA NWEKE, IZUCHUKWU UBA, PEACE OKON EFFIONG, CHINAZA IBEH,

Others are GIFT COLLINS, CHIMKASO KINGSLEY, HAPPINESS MONDAY, CHIOMA OKONKWO, and UCHECHUKWU NWANKWO.

The police spokesman said detectives rescued the children and arrested the suspects at the home of one MELVINA UJU UBA, which is located opposite Nnamdi Azikiwe Orthopedic Teaching Hospital in Idemili South.

CSP MOHAMMED said that the rescued children would be handed over to the State Ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs for proper care.

Still in Anambra State, one CHUKWUEMEKA OBIJIOFOR has landed in police cell for allegedly killing his wife and her child.

The alleged killing of CHISOM CHUKWUEMEKA and her four-year-old child is being investigate by detectives at the Ozubulu Police Division.

OBIJIOFOR is reported to have acted crazy for strange reasons and smashed the heads of his wife and her child with a shovel.

The Anambra State Police spokesperson, HARUNA MOHAMMED, said the Commissioner of Police, JOHN ABANG, has ordered the transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
