The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria has urged the Federal government not to overlook the impact new taxes will have on businesses.
The CITN President, Adesina Adedayo, said this during the induction ceremony of the institute in Lagos.
Adedayo said government must avoid the urge to introduce taxes with the intention of raising revenues while neglecting the impact that such action would have on businesses and economic activities.
He also noted that taxation had been on the front burner and would continue to be because of the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
