Concern grows as lack of funds delays resumption of Anambra Judicial Panel

Lack of funding has delayed the resumption of sitting by the Anambra State Judicial Panel on Police Brutality after the Christmas and New Year break.

A source close to the Panel told Lasgidi FM News Desk that members decided not to resume hearing of petitions unless the state government provides money to fund their operations.

Our source, who is a concerned citizen of Anambra State, said members of the Judicial Panel also want to be paid their allowances.

It was gathered that the Anambra State Government had provided allocation in the 2021 Budget for the payment of compensation to victims of police brutality.

However; our source complained that victims of police assaults would not get compensated if the Judicial Panel failed to complete its assignment.
